Most of our March activities were within the first two weeks. Sunday, March 4th was the Blessing of the Fleet. Chef Noah prepared a delicious brunch that was followed by a blessing of several yachts pictured in the Club and then on the docks. All of the yachts were flying their colors and it was a magnificent sunny day for Chaplain Debra Maconaughey to give individually blessings. Thank you to all the yachtsmen for properly preparing the harbor.
The West Coast Cruise began Tuesday March 6th and proceeded north up the west coast of Florida to the Marina at Factory Bay (near Marco Island) for a 2 night stay. The marina was not sheltered and was busy with boat traffic. GREG and LISA ABSTEN and their travel companions Jeff and Carol Goldring on the STOWAWAY joined DUKE MARTIN AND CHERYL WILCOX on C W and GARY and SANDY YENIK on KOKOMO. The STOWAWAY was moored at the Marco Island Yacht Club. Dining included Café DeMarco, the Snook Inn and the Marco Island Yacht Club.
Thursday, March 8 was a travel day north to protected dockage at Boca Grande Marina for KOKOMO and C W. (STOWAWAY returned to Marathon.) Golf carts were rented to move around the island and a friend of Duke Martin provided a tour.
Sunday, March 11 was a travel day for KOKOMO to the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club and C W to Pine Island where family members were visited. Monday, March 12 both yachts moved to the Naples Yacht Club for a 2 night stay. While there they enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Club. The return trip to Marathon was cold with rolling seas. All part of the experience!
